Tanzania has one of the highest percentage of people living with the HIV/AIDS, we felt we need to do something.

Sexual health awareness

Given that sadly Tanzania has one of the highest percentage of people living with the HIV/AIDS virus in the world, estimated at 20% of the population of people living in the Kilimanjaro area alone, we felt we need to do something. Therefore we set out to provide culturally sensitive programmes in order to help save lives. To maximise the effectiveness of our work due to our wealth of outreach work experience we knew that the best way forward was to encourage enthusiastic young peer educators to get involved. We now provide workshops in pressing matters such as HIV awareness or STI's. Our volunteers are trained in a variety of teaching and facilitation techniques both here in the UK and within Africa and help us deliver sexual health and life skills education to schools and communities. This empowers people to make informed decisions about sexual health and reduces their risk of infection. We involve young people in discussions, questions and answers and take an interactive approach in order to help save lives as demonstrated by our football programme which has become very popular both here in the UK and within Tanzania.

Why Sexual Reproduction and Health Workshops?

Providing accurate information about the body and sexual health in order to help reduce the risk of HIV, AIDS and STIs is an important part of our work. Our work is very necessary in this area because there is little access to education in the regions we work in and most of the time very limited access to accurate information. Our work helps reduce the stigma of HIV/AIDS and helps those affected by HIV to better integrate in their own communities and helps reduce the risk of further lives being affected. The lessons learned through our workshops benefit participants for many years to come and this includes the young people who design and deliver them, most importantly though our work help saves lives.
